Elevate your laundry routine with our gentle laundry detergent. It lifts dirt and helps remove stains for a thorough clean while staying gentle on fabrics.

Suitable for front-loading washing machines and for hand washing delicate items (always patch test first). The formula uses plant-derived surfactants and is scented only with pure lavender, geranium and bergamot essential oils: fresh, but never overpowering.

Here's what you won't find in our Gentle Laundry Detergent.

❌ No enzymes - cleans with plant-derived sugar (glucoside) surfactants rather than enzymes; a common preference for sensitive skin.

❌ No optical brighteners - these synthetic additives absorb UV light and re-emit it as blue, and they are designed to stay on fabric after washing. Clean clothes, not a coating.

❌ No synthetic fragrance - scented only with natural essential oils: lavender, geranium and bergamot.

❌ No dyes - colourants add nothing to how well a detergent cleans, so we leave them out.

❌ Sulphates (SLS/SLES) - we use mild plant-sugar surfactants instead.

❌ Phthalates - often used to fix synthetic fragrance, and unnecessary when you scent with essential oils.

❌ Microplastics - thickened with xanthan gum, a natural fermentation-derived thickener, not synthetic polymers.

❌ EDTA - water is softened with plant-derived citrate (from citric acid), not the slow-to-degrade synthetic chelator EDTA.

❌ Parabens & Phenoxyethanol - preserved with a benzyl alcohol and sodium benzoate system instead.

Handmade in small batches in Wales. Refillable by design.

Pour the liquid into the dispenser of your machine. Always check colour fastness on an inside seam before pre-treating stains with neat liquid. Follow garment manufacturer's washing instructions. Wash dark colours separately. For best results, do not overfill your machine.

Dose per standard load (4.5 kg):

Soft water: 30 ml

Medium water: 40 ml

Hard water: 50 ml

Handwash: 30 ml

23 washes per 950 ml bottle, 125 washes per 5 L refill box (normally soiled laundry, medium water hardness).

Contains 15-30% non-ionic surfactants (plant-derived). Preservatives: Benzyl Alcohol, Sodium Benzoate.

What each ingredient does

Deionised Water is purified water with minerals and impurities removed, so it doesn't interfere with the formula and helps keep it stable.

Decyl Glucoside is our main cleaning ingredient: a mild, plant-derived non-ionic surfactant made from coconut oil and glucose. It lifts dirt and grease, keeps working in hard water, and is readily biodegradable.

Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside is a plant-derived, biodegradable surfactant that works alongside decyl glucoside to boost cleaning and helps disperse the essential oils evenly through the formula.

Citric Acid occurs naturally in citrus fruits; ours is produced by fermentation. It sets the gentle pH of the formula and, as citrate, softens water to help tackle limescale and mineral build-up.

Vegetable Glycerin is a plant-derived humectant made from soy and coconut oils. We blend our xanthan gum into it first to form a smooth paste, so the gum disperses evenly instead of clumping. Readily biodegradable.

Sodium Carbonate (also known as soda ash or washing soda) is a mineral we add during making. It reacts with citric acid to form sodium citrate, the gentle water softener in the finished detergent.

Benzyl Alcohol is a broad-spectrum preservative used in small amounts alongside sodium benzoate, protecting the product itself against bacteria, yeast and mould so it stays fresh once opened. Ours is a pharmaceutical grade meeting European, British, Japanese and US pharmacopoeia standards. Readily biodegradable and non-formaldehyde-releasing.

Sodium Benzoate is a nature-identical, COSMOS-approved preservative: the salt form of benzoic acid, which occurs naturally in foods such as cranberries and cinnamon. Only a small amount is needed to keep the formula fresh. Readily biodegradable and free from formaldehyde and formaldehyde-releasers.

Xanthan Gum is a naturally derived thickener made by fermenting plant sugars. We use a finely milled, cosmetic-grade "clear" form that gives the detergent its smooth texture without clouding it, and keeps ingredients evenly suspended. Readily biodegradable.

Essential Oils - Lavandula Angustifolia Oil (Lavender), Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil (Geranium), Citrus Aurantium Bergamia Fruit Oil (Bergamot). Our only source of scent.

Linalool, Citronellol, Geraniol, Limonene occur naturally in the essential oils and are listed because they are fragrance allergens.

A quick note on allergens: essential oils naturally contain fragrance allergens, and our preservative, benzyl alcohol, is also classed as one. Under UK and EU detergent rules, all of them must be listed on packaging. Citronellol, Geraniol, Linalool and Limonene come from the essential oils, which we use in small amounts, in line with IFRA standards. As with any product, these allergens may cause irritation in some people, particularly those with sensitive skin, so we recommend a patch test if you have known sensitivities. This information is shared for your peace of mind and the sake of complete transparency.

If medical advice is needed, have product container or label at hand. Keep out of reach of children. IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. If eye irritation persists: Get medical advice/attention.
