Carbon Positive Aspirations

Lavender & Lemon is more than a brand; it’s a community I’m building around a strong, climate-positive mission that goes beyond the business itself. I give part of my revenue to Ecologi, a leading platform working to cut global CO2 emissions in half by 2040 and plant billions of trees every year. Through this partnership, I support top-quality carbon offset projects and tree planting, both here in the UK and around the world.

But my dedication doesn't stop with organisational efforts. As the person behind Lavender & Lemon, I take a personal, pivotal role in this environmental journey, which is why I offset my full carbon footprint encompassing home, travel, hobbies, and food. Through verified projects, I embody my eco-conscious values throughout the business. Advocating for sustainable living and backing elite climate mitigation efforts are not just bullet points on a to-do list; they are practices I live by every day.

  • Restoring wildflowers, wetlands and wildlife in the UK

    97% of the UK's wildflower meadows have been lost since the 1930s. This project funds the restoration and conservation of 4 types of habitats: wildflower meadows, wetlands (including peatland restoration), heathland, and woodland. Tackling all these different habitat types together will result in landscapes being a mosaic of habitats that can support high levels of biodiversity.

  • Carbon removal through afforestation in sao paulo, brazil

    Afforestation, the strategic planting of trees on previously underutilized or mismanaged land, stands as a critical response to the ongoing degradation of our ecosystems and the persistent threat of deforestation. This project will sequester 19,380 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.

  • Conserving the Amazon in Brazil

    As the largest tropical forest globally, the Brazilian Amazon Forest plays a crucial role as a primary carbon sink, contributing significantly to our fight against climate change. Unfortunately, deforestation, forest degradation, and shifts in land use, particularly in agriculture, have collectively contributed to 23% of all anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions worldwide between 2007 and 2016. This project will prevent the emission of 8,378,697 tCO2e over 30 years

Planting for the Future

For each order, Lavender & Lemon funds the planting of a tree, making sure it complements the local ecosystem. These trees aren’t counted toward offsetting our carbon emissions, but they will remove carbon from the atmosphere over the course of their lifetime. Through this commitment, Lavender & Lemon helps our trusted partner, Eden Reforestation, bolster global biodiversity and uplift communities by employing local individuals. 🌳

Google Cloud which runs on 100% renewable energy

Carbon Neutral Platform

Because Lavender & Lemon is a digital-first brand, making sure the website is as environmentally friendly as possible is a key priority. The shop runs on Shopify, which operates on Google Cloud powered by 100% renewable energy. According to Shopify’s 2022 Climate Report, the company is carbon neutral and offsets all employee home office energy usage and business travel, including transportation and accommodation energy. In June 2022, Shopify also introduced the Planet app, which estimates merchants’ shipping emissions and enables them to make shipments carbon-neutral by funding innovative companies that pull carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere and store it.

We Clean Up After Ourselves

E-commerce deliveries have a carbon footprint, which is why Lavender & Lemon supports cutting-edge companies that remove carbon from the air via Shopify Planet. Together, participating businesses have removed thousands of tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere and provided carbon-neutral shipping for millions of orders.

Here’s how it works: For every order Lavender & Lemon receives, a formula is used to calculate the estimated shipping emissions. Based on those estimates, a portion of revenue goes to carbon removal companies vetted by scientists from Carbon Direct. Those companies then use that funding to remove however much carbon the shipments created. Any extra funds go toward further developing carbon removal technologies.

    Grassroots Carbon helps ranchers modify land management practices to improve soil and ecological health, which captures and stores more carbon in soil.

  • Mast Reforestation

    Mast Reforestation combines proven forestry practices with new technology to regrow healthy, resilient, climate-adapted forests lost to wildfires. Mast’s services include seed collection, seedling cultivation, reforestation services, and financing based on high-quality carbon removal credits.

  • Lavender & Lemon supports Remora via Shopify Planet

    Remora is building a device that captures a semi-truck's carbon emissions directly from the tailpipe.The device will mount on the back of the truck, attach to its tailpipe, and filter the carbon emissions out of its exhaust. The driver will offload the captured, compressed CO2 while they refuel.
